GRE words fail when they are only synonyms on a list
Text completion and sentence equivalence are not “pick a hard word.” They are “pick the word whose nuance fits the sentence.” Equivocate is not a fancy lie. Laconic is not merely quiet. If your deck only stores a one-word synonym, the GRE will punish the missing shade.
That is why an illustrated card plus a full example sentence is a better GRE encoding than a 5,000-word spreadsheet. You still need volume over months — but each word should arrive as meaning, usage and a picture you can retrieve.
